New Rules and Designated Learning Institution

On June 1, 2014 the new regulation for international students started taking effect, bringing new guidance for the issuance of Study Permits. The new rules come to protect the international reputation of Canada as a provider of a high-quality education system to students from all over the world.

In order to request a study permit, students will need to be registered at and accepted by education institutions that are designated to host international students. Students willing to renew their study permits will also have to follow the new regulation. The new and / or renewal applications will need to include the Designated Learning Institution number (DLI#). Here you can find a list of the Designated Learning Institutions.

Please, note that primary and secondary schools are automatically designated, and will not appear on the list of institutions. Therefore, there will be no need to include a DLI# when applying for programs at those schools.  As an accredited and certified secondary school, students do not need to include a DLI# when applying for programs at Pattison School.
