Field Trips & Activities
During this semester, our students have enjoyed several field trips and activities.
Vancouver Aquarium Field Trip
On May 29, students visited the Vancouver Aquarium. The aquarium offers many learning opportunities for students interested in getting involved. We would be very proud to see PHS students building careers in marine biology.
Economics 12 Field Trip
A full day packed with games, karaoke and group activities related to subjects like scarcity, choice, benefits or opportunity costs let Economics come alive. By using the Common Sense Way, the presenters Julie Walton and Dirk Mateer showed the students why people choose, why incentives matters and why there is no such thing as free lunch. The benefits? Lots of information, lots of fun, lots of food and a great day with our Pattison School students.
Vancouver Art Gallery Field Trip
Our Visual Art and Media Technology students visited Edward Burtynsk’s exhibit entitled “A Terrible Beauty” at Vancouver Art Gallery in May.
Barbecue
On June 27th, PHS teachers and students headed to Stanley Park for a Student Council organized barbecue / picnic. Everybody had lots of fun, enjoying the barbecue, playing soccer, volleyball, and much more.
Sight, Smell, Sound, Touch, and Taste
School can be so much fun! In Mr. William’s class you can be sure that there is always something going on. This semester our students learned, for example, about Newton’s law of Viscosity by doing a cornstarch experiment. Furthermore, they learned about Aerodynamics by making Skyhawk and the highlight for most of the students was studying vocabulary words of phase changes by making ice cream in class!
