Ms. Twa was born and raised in Edmonton. She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art & Design and Linguistics from the University of Alberta, and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of British Columbia.
After graduating, she spent 7 years teaching art at an international school in İstanbul, Türkiye. Since moving back to Canada in 2020, Ms. Twa has worked in a variety of school and community settings. She especially loves working with international students from different cultural and language backgrounds. She has lived in Vancouver for three years now.
Ms. Twa is passionate about teaching the visual arts and instilling in her students a sense of awe and wonder of the world. She loves being a part of students’ creative journeys and their process of learning. One of her favourite parts of teaching is introducing new materials, techniques or processes and watching students’ eyes light up.
In her free time, Ms. Twa enjoys painting, printmaking, travelling, drinking çay and having friends over for Turkish breakfast.
